Stephanie Simon is a multiple Emmy Award-winning TV news anchor, reporter, and producer whose storytelling talent and passion for culture have made her a standout voice in New York. With multiple Emmys and numerous accolades to her name, Stephanie is best known for her dynamic coverage of the arts—including music, theater, dance, film, food, fashion, and more.

Her work has taken her from dancing with the Rockettes and prima ballerinas to laughing alongside top comedians, interviewing music icons, and chatting on the red carpet with some of the world’s most celebrated stars. Grammy-winning composer Arturo O’Farrill even honored her with the jazz symphony “Miss Stephanie” in recognition of her commitment to NYC’s vibrant jazz scene.

Stephanie’s journey began in first grade in Ambler, PA, with her self-published newspaper The Gossip Gazette. That same creative spark later led her to launch NY1’s first arts and entertainment beat over 25 years ago.

Stephanie met her husband, James J. Claffey Jr., during the 2007 Broadway Stagehands Strike. She calls it “the best assignment ever!” They later married and have two children, Michael and Madeline, stepdaughter Bailey, and their two dogs, Krypto and Wagner—all of whom have made cameos on NY1.

Stephanie’s reporting also extends to major breaking news events, including the September 11th attacks and their aftermath, Hurricane Sandy, and the COVID-19 pandemic. She co-founded the groundbreaking She Got Game, America’s first women-in-sports radio show, and recently launched her own production company, Scene Stealer Media LLC. Stephanie is currently working on a book chronicling her many adventures in TV news.

Stephanie’s work has been recognized with prestigious honors, including the Edward R. Murrow Award, Deadline Club Award, and multiple NY Press Club Awards. She's also been celebrated by organizations such as the NY Pet Fashion Show and the Jewish Children’s Museum & Crown Heights Jewish Community Council.
